Solid Tube Compression Limiters have a plain round inside and outside diameter and are easily installed using a simple cold press method. It offers high compressive strength, flat ends and can be produced with inner and outer break edge chambers.
Headed Tube Compression Limiters offer the benefits of the solid tube compression limiters plus the addition of a head. The head can spread the induced load over a greater area, thus reducing the stress and preventing the compression limiter from indenting the mating surface. Headed parts are commonly used when the mating part is made of a soft material such as aluminium. The head can also be placed at the bolt face if a greater contact area is required.
Knurled solid tube and headed tube compression limiters provide the benefit of a knurled retention feature. The knurl pattern is design specific, generally used to provide additional push out resistance. The complex knurl pattern designs are available where designers want the compression limiter to be longer than the plastic thickness, to isolate the plastic from the bolted joint. The knurl design then prevents movement of the assembled components.
Oval Compression Limiters are used to datum the component in one plane while allowing radial clearance in the other. With large plastic components, designers use the hole size and form of compression limiters to datum the component to its mating threaded component.
Split-tube Compression Limiters are produced from rolled strip, offering manufacturing and cost benefits compared with solid tube compression limiters. However, they are generally used on less demanding application where tolerance, form, flatness and roundness are not so critical.
Compression Limiter Assemblies combine the compression limiter with its mating bolt, reducing bolt handling at the assembly stage and providing logistical and procurement cost savings. The two-piece design is for longer compression limiters and where limited radial float is required.
